Overview
If you're having problems with this site, it could be due to your browser being an older version that is unable to support layers, Javascript or CSS properly.

Javascript
Javascript is used for a few functions. If you're finding that some features give error messages or don't work correctly then you may need to enable Javascript. Javascript cannot access the files on your computer and is unable to do any damage to your system.

Cookies
We do not currently use cookies. Please note that most of the sites we link to do use cookies.

Pop-up windows
The gallery displays a larger version of the picture in a pop-up window. There are numerous browser addons that disable this function. If after clicking on a picture icon you do not see a larger version then check that popup windows are enabled. It is also possible for the new window to appear behind the current one so check that this has not happened.

Appearance
Sometimes there can be a marked difference between the appearance of Web pages in various browsers. Freckleton.org is regularly checked using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Opera. Unfortunately there's very little we can do except try to achieve the best compromise, but let me know anyway and I'll see what I can do.

Browsers
The best way to overcome browser problems is to download the latest version of the browser software. There is really no need to continue with older browsers.

Firefox Chrome

The three most popular browsers are Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Chrome - click the logo to reach the respective site. Microsoft Edge is embedded in Windows and is automatically updated with the operating system.

Opera
The latest version of the Opera browser is fully compatible with freckleton.org. Earlier versions may give problems, but you should consider upgrading in any case to the latest version.

Adobe

Many of the files on the site use the Adobe PDF format.
