The missing Goshawk

Freckleton is located in the Fylde, Lancashire,
England, UK, just north of the river Ribble. It is one of the oldest
Fylde villages. Historically, Freckleton’s main industry is
agriculture but there was a time when it was sea port with boat
building and sail making.
The Freckleton web site is a showcase for the
village. It provides information about local history, the shops,
pubs, restaurants, council, businesses, facilities, services and
amenities that are available locally.
There are also pictures from around the village
as well as information about the Lancashire Coastal Way and links

'Male Goshawk' missing since 17th Sept.2008
A mature male Goshawk went missing while
being flown at the Singleton Hall Estate. The tracking transmitter
worn was later found
in the woods. The bird was flying towards Singleton Village. He is
wearing both LBR and D of E rings, also hunting jesses. The Goshawk
is the size of a herring gull. In flight, the Goshawk has broad, blunt
wings and a broad tail and has a a penetrating shriek, "hi-aa".
It is thought that he may use the woods to roost. Any sighting please
contact the owner. Do not try to bring this bird down or entice him
with food. Certain foods can kill him and only an experienced handler
should do this.

This is not
really News, but I am sure that someone should get a good deal!
Hi everybody...we have just moved to Freckleton...and
have a problem !! Our 3 seater settee which we bought only a few weeks
ago won't fit
through the doors !!!--therefore we have to sell it !! It cost £300
just a few weeks ago---brown in colour...a soft velour type fabric....with
5 scatter cushions...some plain brown and some in a cream / brown floral
design. It is modern in styling and very comfy !!!!
We would like £100 ono.....we need to sell asap.....

FLoWE - 15.10.08
During October FLoWE, with support from the Environment
Agency and Home Insulation Services, will be carrying out a series of
roadshows
across
Fylde to raise awareness of how residents can save money by reducing
the amount of energy they use while also informing them of various grants
and offers that are available to them. They will be giving out free energy
efficiency lightbulbs and running a daily prize draw for those who either
go to see them and sign a pledge form to say what they will be doing
to reduce their energy consumption or sign up on their website – www.MyFyldeCred.co.uk.
The roadshow will be at the Coach
& Horses in Freckleton between 10:00am and 4:00om on the 15th

Junior Disco -

Freckleton Club Day Sports
Committee are holding a Junior Disco (Classes 3-6 only) on Friday
the 17th October, 19:00 to 21:00 in the village memorial hall. Refreshments
are available. Please note that children must be collected
from inside the hall, on time. The Club Day Committe cannot be held
responsible
for children waiting outside the building.

A runner's name is missing on the results. Unfortunately because his number blew
off we don't know who he is. Assuming he's local, perhaps someone visiting the
